Basket Weave Scarf

If you’re looking for a knitting pattern that will keep you warm this winter, look no further than the Basket Weave Scarf.

This super quick and easy scarf pattern features a basket-weave pattern that’s sure to keep you warm while still being stylish.

Materials needed:

  • Yarn- worsted weight yarn in two colors – I used one skein of Lion Brand Heartland (Arctic Fox) and one skein of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Tweed (Wine Tasting)
  • Size 8 circular needles (16″ or 24″)
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Pattern instructions:

Cast on 50 stitches in your main color with the longer needle.* Knit every row until scarf measures 14 inches.

Cast off loosely. Repeat steps 1-4 using your second color to create another long strip.

Fold over both strips so that they are aligned side by side with wrong sides facing outwards; pin in place if necessary.

Thread each strip through your machine at the same time using a sharp needle size 7/8 or 9/10; start stitching from one edge and work towards yourself until you reach where it starts again, then repeat this step until all ends have been sewn together!

Now use some sewing thread or yarn scraps to sew up any remaining holes along either side seam so that it looks nice and tidy once finished!

Knitting with bamboo yarn can be tricky, but our Ultimate Guide has everything you need to know. From choosing the perfect yarn to getting your stitch tension right, we’ve got you covered.

Simple Garter Stitch Scarf

This pattern is written for an adult-sized scarf, which should fit most people. If you’d like to make this pattern smaller or larger, simply add or subtract multiple of 2 stitches. For example:

  • 30 stitches = 11″ x 50″
  • 32 stitches = 12″ x 52″
  • 34 stitches = 13″ x 55″

Thick and Chunky Crochet Scarf Pattern

Materials:

  • chunky yarn (we used Lion Brand Thick and Quick Wool-Ease Chunky yarn)
  • crochet hook, size L11/8 mm or larger (we used a Clover Amour L11/8 mm crochet hook)
  • scissors
  • tapestry needle for weaving in ends and sewing pieces together
  • stitch marker to keep track of ends when working back and forth in rows (optional but useful!)

Ridged Scarf

If you want to make a ridged scarf, you will need:

  • 2 skeins of bulky weight yarn (for the sample shown, I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Fisherman)
  • Size 13 crochet hook (I like working with wooden hooks)
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends

What can you do with a ridged scarf? This project is fabulous for beginners because it’s easy to memorize and can be worked up quickly.

It would also make an excellent gift for any occasion! And don’t worry about how to wear your new winter accessory this pattern shows different ways that are both stylish and cozy.

Half Brioche Ribbed Scarf

You will need:

  • Worsted weight yarn in two colors (I used 1 skein of Vanna’s Choice in Jade Heather and 2 skeins of Bernat Super Value in White)
  • Size H/8/5mm crochet hook (or whatever size is recommended for the yarn you are using)
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends and sewing on buttons, if desired.

I believe it is better to have too many than not enough, so I always buy a couple extra balls of yarn when I shop. If you’re worried about running out mid-project, then save your receipt and take them back if necessary!

You can also check out my other post here on how to make one ball last twice as long. In this pattern there aren’t any fancy stitches or techniques involved (besides some basic increases), so beginners should be able to complete this scarf with ease!

Mitered Squares

A mitered square is a rectangle that’s been folded in half, with the two long sides joined together.

This creates an envelope-like shape that can be opened or closed—the edges of the scarf are straight and have no shaping. The pattern for this scarf uses four different colors of yarn to create a rainbow effect when worn.

The scarf begins by casting on stitches with two yarns held together (one color and one contrast color), then working several rows in garter stitch before changing to knit stripes, back and forth until you reach your desired length.

At the end of each row, work 1 stitch into each side seam as you turn your work so that they meet in the middle when viewed from either side.

Once all rows have been completed, bind off loosely by slipping every other stitch purlwise with yarn coming from back side of work; knit remaining stitches normally until last two stitches are left unbound off one at a time using backward loop method or by sliding them off left needle tip onto right needle tip without twisting them around their shared neighboring strands.)

Fringe Scarf

Crochet fringe is a great way to add some extra texture and style to any project. It’s also easy enough that you can learn how to crochet fringe in under 10 minutes! You can use it on scarves, blankets and sweaters in addition to hats and cowls.

If you want your fringe looser or thicker than the example above, chain an additional 6 stitches at the end.

Make sure you have enough yarn for all the pieces before starting (you don’t want any disasters!). If your yarn is thick or thin, adjust accordingly by increasing/decreasing your stitch count as needed.

Measure a piece of string about 30″ long and tie it securely around your finger so that it doesn’t slip off during this process – this will be used as a guide later on when attaching your crocheted pieces

My First Scarf Pattern in Herringbone Stitch

This is a beginner-friendly pattern for making a scarf using the herringbone stitch. It’s written for an 8″ wide scarf that’s 60″ long, but you can adjust these numbers to fit your needs. All you need is some worsted weight yarn and a size K hook!

Yarn: 4 skeins of worsted weight yarn in contrasting colors (I used Red Heart With Love)

Hook: US H8/5mm hook (you’ll be using 2 strands of the worsted weight together as one strand) If you want to make this wider or longer, start with an odd number for your starting chain (i.e., ch 23 instead of ch 20).

For example, if you want it wider than 8″, start with 50 chains instead of 30 chains. Or if you want it longer than 60″, start with 35 chains instead of 20 chains.

Glamour Lace Crochet Scarf

Materials:

  • 5 skeins of 100% cotton, worsted weight yarn in different colors (you can use all one color if you want)
  • Size I 9.00 mm crochet hook (or whatever size is recommended for the yarn you are using)

This scarf is made with a “G” hook. The loop stitch makes this scarf very stretchy and warm! You could also use any other type of yarn or even your own handspun if you like.

This infinity scarf pattern can be knit in any length you choose—it uses only 1 skein of Red Heart Soft Yarn (100% acrylic) but doesn’t require much yardage because it’s so chunky! Since this pattern uses both sides of the work, each row will produce two stitches: one from each side of your work!

Easy Triangle Crochet Shawl Pattern

This triangular shawl pattern is so easy to follow, you can make it in any yarn and in any size. It uses only one stitch, so you don’t have to know how to crochet in the round (or even know how to crochet at all). You can also make your shawl as long or short as you want!

To get started, grab your yarn of choice and a size H hook. Then, follow these instructions:

  • Chain 5 stitches then slip stitch into first chain stitch to make a loop. This will be your first row of stitches for the entire project–and they’ll create a triangle shape when crocheted together!

Chain 3 more times then slip stitch into first chain stitch again — this will create 4 sides total on your new triangle!

You should now have 2 chains on either side of every third row for each step going forward until Row 6 where there will only be 1 chain between every third row; this makes up 8 rows total before continuing onward from there (you’ll need 12 more rows past that point).

The pattern instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The scarf is made by crocheting two long rectangles (one for each side of the blanket), then sewing them together on three sides before finishing off with a button closure.
